The Centre for John Clare Studies discussion group in Cambridge are planning discussion meetings at 1pm on the following dates:

21 Feb - Richard Hunt (Director of Culture and former Archives Manager at Vivacity, Peterborough) on 'Rediscovered documents relating to the death of Mary Joyce'.
2 May - Corinna Russell (Cambridge) on Clare and song.
6 June - Anne Secord (Cambridge) on Clare's influence, Gilbert White, and ornithological observational practices.

1 Feb - 18 March - 'Found in the Fields' - an exhibition by Carry Akroyd - hand-drawn lithographs and linocuts relating to the poetry of John Clare, at the Brewhouse Theatre, Coal Orchard, Taunton, Somerset.

9 Feb - Melvyn Bragg's BBC Radio 4 programme 'In Our Time' at 9 am will be focussed on John Clare. There will be a live discussion, with guests Jonathan Bate, Mina Gorji and Simon Kovesi. It will afterwards be available via the Radio 4 website, as a podcast.

20 May - Matthew Arnold's 'John Clare Cantata' will be performed as part of a concert, 'Wind, Rain and Snow' by the William Byrd Singers at Christ Church, West Didsbury, Manchester, at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10 (£9 concessions), available on the door.

28 May - There will be an illustrated talk in St Botolph's Church, Helpston, from 2pm to 4.15pm, including a tea break. Tickets £5 including refreshments. 14 - 16 July 2017 - The John Clare Society annual festival in Helpston, near Peterborough. Midsummer cushions and folk music on the Friday. On the Saturday, stalls, the President's talk, John Goodridge talking about Bloomfield, and an evening concert from The Decent Scrapers.
